I hate feeling out of control.
I’ve heard it said, “Control is an illusion,” but I disagree.
Even when things around me seem out of control, I can still be in charge of myself.
I can choose how I will respond to people, circumstances, and challenges.
Big and small.
I can let the moment or person or crisis cause me to freak all the way out.
I can take a deep breath and take inventory. I can look at the situation and decide what my options are and where those options might lead me. To higher ground or down a self-suffocating rabbit hole.
Either way, I choose.
And if I decide I have no choice at all?
I’ve chosen to give myself up.
No one has taken that from me.
Even if I blame them for doing so.
I haven’t always understood this.
In the past, I misunderstood how “control” works.
Especially in my walk with God.
I was much too passive.
I swallowed hook, line, and sinker the old adage,
“God is in control, not me.”
Which implies a certain “powerlessness.”
Not a very appealing proposition for anyone looking from the outside of my faith in.
“A sealed fate and no control” isn’t a exactly an alluring billboard for becoming a christian.
Yet, it’s way too often what people see in christians.
Here’s what’s more appealing-
And I believe, more true.
As a child of God, an heir, a royal daughter, I am powerful.
You are powerful.
Because God’s power transfers.
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. (Romans 8:11, NLT)
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. (Ephesians 3:20, NLT)
You and I have a huge part to play in how our lives unfold.
And it’s high time we own it.
The first week of April, I‘m launching a book.
At its core, the book is about power and control.
Where we can find it and where we can’t.
How we can get it and how we can lose it.
I’ll be talking about “control” on Tuesday, April 2nd @ noon CST.
I know it’s kind of a dirty word and we’re not supposed to admit we want it… But don’t we want it?
We’ll get down to the nitty gritty on this topic.
I’ll share 3 things you can do to take control of your life immediately.
(Yes, even in those stuck places where it feels like you have no control at all.)
These three action items are not lofty or impractical or impossible.
They are well within your reach, super-duper practical, and 100% possible.
I’ve learned these lessons the hard way.
But I’m hoping you won’t have to if I pass them along!
You will be able to do, in half an hour, what it has taken me years to figure out.
🎧 Join me live (or get the recording afterward), by clicking here.
It’s only 30 minutes.
But what can change in 30 minutes?
Take your lunch break and listen in.
I hope to “see” you on April 2nd!
Don’t forget to save your seat!
